Blog Post 5-- Goal Reflections

It's been 5 weeks since you wrote your goals for 3rd quarter. In this post, I'd like you to do the following:

  • State your goal for 3rd quarter
  • Answer the following questions regarding your goal
    • So far, based on your 5 week grades and your graded papers, how are you doing with your goal
    • If you are not meeting your goal, why do you think that is?
    • If you are not meeting your goal, what steps are you going to take in order to reach your goal by the end of 3rd quarter?
    • How can your classmates and Ms. Sosnoski help you to achieve your goal?
    • If you are meeting your goal, what do you think is making you successful?
    • If you are meeting your goal, do you have another goal you'd like to accomplish?

  1. My goal for the 3rd quater was twofold: maintain my grade within a few points and get a 95 lab grade average. I am happy to say that I have managed to keep my grade level, not letting it fluctuate more than 2-3 points. My lab average is .74 off a 95 so it is close enough that I am satisfied, but there is always room to improve! I noticed I skipped several questions on a lab which I couldn't believe! I think I had been getting really good lab grades for a bit and got a little lazy. It is important that I proofread labs no matter what. Not answering a question is a very silly way to lose points. Overall, I would like to bump up my overrall grade by a few points. I believe, at this point, the only way to do this is to really be careful. Once in a while you get tha tone test, quiz or lab you really messed up and it brings down your other grades and lets you down. I will aim to be consistent, and this will help me, though I have come very close to reahcing both goals. My classmates can help me by working efficiently and trying to keep the whole group on task. When doing labs, it is important that we all put in an effort to get our work done.Unfortunately, I have to face the fact that I can be very easily distracted. Ms, Sosnoski can help me by making sure that she is explaining everything clearly with activities that really help us remember the manterial through practice so that we never leave the classroom confused or unsure, which we almost never are. Also I think it is important that, before a test or quiz we should have a small period of time to go over key concepts and answer questions. This should be alotted whether students are responsive or not. People may have questions they dont realize.

  2. My goal for the 3rd quarter was to raise my overall test grade from 86 to 93 by studying every night what I learned in class that day. So far, based on the 5 week grades and my grade paper, I am not happy with it. Because my test average dropped from 86 to 82 and I have been expecting 90. I don’t think, still I am studying every night because if I did. I would have gotten at least a 90 on it. In order to reach your goal by the end of 3rd quarter the steps I am going to take to achieve my goal is to go to Science help room if I don’t understand what I learned in class. I don’t know how my classmates and Ms. Sosnoski could help me achieve my goal.

  3. I am accomplishing my third quarter goal. I am using class time wisely to finish labs and class work. Also I am doing much better on quizes and tests. My new goal is to raise my test average by three percent by spending more time to thoroughly understand the given material so I am prepared on test day. All other aspects of my grade report has improved compared to my previous grades.

  4. My third quarter goal was to turn in my homework on time and finish all my labs. So far, I feel that I am doing quite well, as I've been handing in most of my homework and both my homework and lab grades have risen.I think that having the attitude of just getting my homework done is definitely helping. When I get home, I get my homework done first, and then chill, instead of getting home, chilling, and never starting my homework. I would like to continue improving my homework grade.

  5. My third quarter goal was to boost my tests and quizzes up. so far, my quizzes have improved but not my test scores. one reason i think this could be would be because i'm not fully understanding the concepts overall, but can understand specific parts of the concepts. something i can do to make sure i meet my goal would to go to the science help room to study before the tests and quizzes. classmates and Ms Sosnoski can help me reach my goal by continuing to be helpful when I ask questions

  6. My goal for the 3rd quarter was to raise my overall test grade by 5 points. So far I am doing alright, I have raised it 2.5 points. There has only been two tests so far so I am going to continue to study and be well rested for all upcoming tests in order to raise my grade and achieve my goal. My classmates and Ms. Sosnoski can continue to do a good job by giving excellent answers when I ask questions in class.

  7. My goal for the 3rd quarter was to raise my quiz average. So far, I have accomplished this, I have raised my quiz average over 10 points. I think that the reason I have been successful in meeting my goal is that I have been studying a lot more then before. Now that i have met my goal, my new goal is to raise my test average.

  8. My goal for the 3rd quarter was to raise my test average and lab average. So far i have raised them by a lot. I think what is making my grades go up is my homework completion and my studying skills are also improving. My new goal is to raise my quiz average.

  9. So if my grade rounds up I'll be meeting my goal, probably because I've been studying more for tests and quizzes. I still feel that I need to do a better job of rereading my labs, and I guess my goal is to raise my lab average by finding time to proofread labs.

  10. My goal for 3rd quarter was to raise my quizzes and test average So far I have been doing okay in achieving my goal. I think since I have been studying more efficiently, and staying on task, has helped me achieve my goal. Another goal I have is to raise my lab average.

  11. My goal for the 3rd quarter was to raise my lab average and to recheck my labs each and every time. I am probably not meeting this goal because of work overload and lack of sleep. In order to meet this goal I will: Sleep much more (probably) and try to get more of my work done in school rather than waiting until the last minute to get it done. My classmates can help me by staying on task in our lab group and Ms. Sosnoski can just keep doing what she's doing (Maybe a little less HW). In terms of a new goal, it is probably very similar to my other goal.... bump my grade up. :)

  12. So far i have completed my goal to raise my grade to over a 90, and it is now a 92. I have done a lot more of my homework and have not played minecraft in a long time. My lab group and people that sit near me have been helpful for me completing my goal.

  13. My goal for the 3rd quarter was to get all my work in on time and with care and quality. I was doing really well with my goal. I was handing labs in on time getting fairly high grades on them, getting my homework done etc. Then my progress started to go down(mostly just with lab like activities). I think this is because once i started to do well, i stopped really pushing myself, because all was going well. I am going to achieve my goal by the end of the 3rd quarter by continuously pushing myself to hand in stuff on time. Ms. Sosnoski and my classmates can help me by also being encouraging. I also need to work on getting better and multiple choice on tests

  14. My goal for the thrid marking period was to ask more questions in class if I am confused, and it think that I am doing pretty well on that note. My classmates and Ms. Sosnoski could help me with my goal by being encouraging in class and providing answers to any questions I have. I am being successful in my goal because I am still studying hard for each test, and am completing homework assignments on time. Any questions that I do have about the material I immediately ask, either in class or beforehand. My new goal could be proofreading tests and quizzes and labs before handing them in to avoid making silly mistakes.

  15. So far I have not met my desired goal. I want an A, but I seem to have been lingering with an 87 since the new marking period. I really need to improve my quiz average. I never turned in the Origins Timeline and that is really bringing me down. I definitely need to be on top of getting those kinds of assignments on time. I also am consistently turning in my labs late, sometime like two weeks late! These areas still need work and attention. I wish that ALL members of my lab group were vocal and active. I sometimes get lost and wish that everyone in the group was talking and discussing the material.

  16. "My goal this semester is to make sure that I am studying in an efficient way for all of the tests and quizzes so that I am better prepared for them. I'd like to get better grades on my tests (above an 85 on each one)." I haven't completely met my goal.
Although I have significantly raised my average, my most recent test grade was not above an 85. I did really well on the first test of this quarter, but not the second. My quiz grades have been fine, but they've never been my biggest issue. I'm working a lot harder this quarter, but it isn't quite enough. I think that I definitely need to study more often and possibly in different ways. It would be helpful to learn some new studying techniques, so if anyone has suggestions, sharing those would be really helpful. If I learn new ways to study and remember information, then I'll probably do better on my tests.

  17. So far, my third quarter goal is going quite well. All the homework that's been due, save the back page of the nutrition chart, has been completed. Although the number of homeworks due has been small in comparison to the second quarter, the quarter is still early. My class can continue to help me achieve my future goals by giving me opportunities to learn or get extra credit. So far I have placed science homework close to the top of my list when it comes to doing homework, which definitely helped me not procrastinate and leave the homework until last. There was an extra opportunity for extra credit in the middle of march, but I had other goings on during that time and I let the extra credit slip. I regret this and will set another goal to attempt each extra credit assignment I can get in science, especially the powerboosts.

  18. My goal was to was to get a 85 as my average. I did not quite reach my goal but I was close. To reach my goal I need to increase my grades on tests and quizzes. To do that I should study my notes more and maybe have a friend quiz me. I think that if my friends helped to quiz me I would be able to focus more because of course I like to listen to my friends.

  19. my third quarter goal was to get a 93 as my overall grade. I have achieved my goal by getting exactly a 93. I achieved this by studying a little more affectedly for tests, turning in all homework and looking over my labs. My new goal is to get a solid A on my quarter grade and I will do this by keeping up what I am doing now.

  20. My goal for the third quarter is to get a 90 or higher on all of my labs. So far I have gotten at least 90 on all my labs accept one. This was because I messed up a few questions because I answered them too quickly. To get at least 90 on all my future labs I will make sure to read my labs twice before turning them in. I will also make sure to get more of the harder questions done in class so I can ask my classmates for help.

  21. My goal was to increase my test scores. However, we have not taken enough tests yet to get accurate results. The 2 tests we have taken, I fufilled my goal on one, by a few points, the second I didn't reach my goal. Although my one test didn't increase it wasn't too far off. Honestly, I have no idea why I am not meeting my goal. I changed the ways I have been studying but that hasn't helped much. I truthfully do not think test taking is my strength! A way that I could help myself is maybe tae practice tests at home to help with my test taking skills.

  22. My goal was to maintain a 95 as my overall grade. Right now in the class, my grade is a few points lower. I've done almost all of my homework and taken all the quizzes and tests, my grades on them are just lower than before, lowering my average. To get my grade back up, I'll just need to study more for quizzes and tests and take notes in class that are easier to read and study from. There isn't much my classmates and Ms. Sosnoski can do to help me reach my goal, I just have to work a little harder.

    ReplyDelete
  23. My goal was to raise my overall class average from a 92 to a 95. I am getting closer to my goal as I am at a 94 right now. I am definitely spending a lot more time on studying for tests and double checking everything before turning it in. One of my plans was to turn my phone off and try to be less distracted, and so far it is working okay. Sometimes I find myself on my phone in the middle of studying but mostly it is because I am bored with what I am doing. If I find more effective ways to study this may help me getting distracted. There is not much Mrs.Sosnoski and my classmates can do, I will just continue to study a lot and focus more.

  24. My goal for the third quarter was to raise my lab grade to above a ninety by the end of the quarter. I have not yet achieved this goal but I am very close. On my last grade report my lab grade was above a ninety but on this most recent grade sheet it is just below. I did well on two of the labs but not as well on the other two. I have not received the two labs that I did badly on yet so I don't know what I did wrong but I assume it was because I have not been writing in complete sentences. My old way of ensuring that I was writing in complete sentences seems to not be working so well so my new solution is to have other people in my lab group check to make sure my sentences are complete. I'm sure this new approach will raise my lab grades and I will soon achieve my goal.

  25. Based on my five week grade I am doing all right. I have met my goal of having a homework grade above a 90% however my test and quiz grades have slowly gone down leaving my grade pretty much as it was before the 3rd quarter. I will now strive to get better test scores and hand in all the power boosts to get my lowest test score dropped.

  26. My goal for this marking period was a very good goal for me. I have a few things that i can do to improve my grade and reach my goal. First off my test averages are not as good as they could be. This next 5 weeks, I will be studying the notes and knowing the systems so exam scores will rise. My homework has improved greatly, although I did miss one assignment which I will ensure will not happen. My lab scores have been increasingly better and I will continue to work to keep that average up. My fellow classmates can help me reach my goal by trying to be respectful to each other and realize that some questions (although easy) might need to be answered. Mrs. Sosonoski can help me reach my goal by going over the warm up questions more often. Although not all of the class puts effort in the warm up, it helps me see what I know. My main issue with my grade is my test averages. I will study harder and make sure that I know what is on the next exams.

  27. So far i am reaching my goal of raising my test and quiz grades. Ms. Sosnoski has already helped me by talking to me about study skills and slowing down on tests. My classmates could help me by studying with me because it helps me to talk about the unit and figure things out with my peers. I think what is making me successful is studying more. Another goal i may like to accomplish is to do all the extra credit given to us and power boost because it could really help bring up my grade.

  28. My goal for the third quarter was to do my homework every night and to raise my grade. I have not reached my second goal because my grade hasn't gotten better. At the beginning of the quarter, I was not completing my homework, but now I do every night. I think that I'm not reaching my other goal because I'm not studying enough for my tests and quizzes. In order to meet my third quarter goal, I will start studying more and by making sure I thoroughly understand the needed material for the tests. There isn't anything Ms. Sosnoski or my classmates can do to help me achieve my goal.

  29. My goal for the third quarter was to raise my test and quiz averages to above a 90%. So far, I am meeting my goal for my quiz average but not my test average. I'm achieving my quiz grade because I'm studying more before quizzes and making sure I understand the material. I am not meeting my test goal because I'm not studying until the night before and I'm not studying all of the material needed. To achieve my goal, I will study the material that we learned in class that day every night. Ms.Sosnoski and my classmates can't do anything to help me achieve my goal, I just have to be more responsible.

  30. My 3rd marking period goal was to get in the low 90's range. so far i am slowly improving but I need to step it up a little more. I need to study more. I will try to study with my friends more and take it seriously. I am making progress but to make it to the 90 I need to study some more and actually learn instead of just doing the work to get it done.

  31. My 3rd marking period goal was to raise my test and quizes average. So far, my goal has not been met. I have been studying a lot more recently, but I still dont do great on the tests and quizes. I think I would benefit from doing practice tests and coming in to you if I need help. I should also ask more questions if i do not understand. I could ask to study with my classmates and ask for tips on studying.

  32. My third period goal was to raise my grades a letter grade to a A. According to the grade sheet i received today in class I have completed this goal, my grade is now a 92. What is making me more successful is the fact that I am taking class more seriously. I am concentrating more on the homework and making sure I study. My goal for the rest of the quarter is to maintain this grade !

  33. My goal for the third marking period was to do all of my homework assignments and to turn my labs in on time. I am doing well with my goal as of now. In order to raise my grade even higher, I can continue to do what I have been doing and the grade will steadily rise. I don't think there is much Ms. Sosnoski or my classmates can do to help with this goal. I think what is making me successful is that I am doing my homework every day now and I have only messed up on one lab in this quarter. Another goal I would like to accomplish is to do more thorough work on my labs to make my lab grade even higher.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My goal for the third quarter is to improve my test average by focusing on more of the questions and fully reading all of the material to myself before i choose an answer. I am meeting my goal well. My test average has increased since the beginning of the marking period. I think i am working slower and taking my time on tests, and that is why my grade has improved. I now would like to raise my quiz average by slowing down and taking more time on quizzes.

  35. My goal for the third quarter was to improve my overall grade through my lab and test grade.I planned to achieve this goal by looking over all my labs the night before they were due. Over the past 5 weeks I have been achieving my goal and am happy with my current grade, but I know I can do better. For the next 5 weeks I am going to try to improve my grade to an A+ by completing all the power-boosts for the tests, which I have not been completing. Those extra 5 points could mean a much better grade by the end of the year!

  36. My goal was to raise my lab grade up to at least an A. I have achieved this goal. I think that I did this by reading over all the directions and attempting to answer in complete sentences. I would now like to raise both my lab and quiz grades to an A+ and attempt to be more attentive in class. I think this will be mostly easy as long as I am able to concentrate!

    ReplyDelete
  37. My goal was to raise my grade to and A, but i didn't achieve that goal. How ever that doesnt mean i am going to stop now. I am going to keep trying to raise it to an A by doing good in labs and tests.

  38. my third quarter goal was is to raise my grade to a 85 or higher.
unfortuanetly i am not yet meeting my goal due to low test scores.
i will achieve this goal from now on by doing the power boosts when they are available and studying harder. ms. sonoski can help me by looking over the objectives with her and making sure i understand them my peers can help me by quizzing me now and again on test subjects.

  39. I was not here when we made our goals for the third marking period, but i did make some goals for myself when I entered this class. 1, get all a's or b's. 2, to make up all the labs necessary from my many switched classes. And 3, rais my lab grade to a 90 at least. So far I have acomplished goal number 1 and am close to accomplishing goal number 3 as well. Goal number 3 will take more time. I am going to take more time on labs and find time to make up old ones. Ms. Sosnoski could help me by providing me with a list of the labs I need to complete. My classmates could help me by keeping me focused.

  41. My goal for the 3rd quarter was to increase my lab scores and so far my lab average is pretty good. I could still use class time for efficient and focus more. Mrs. Sosnoski could help me do a better job on labs by giving us more time for them. My class mates are doing a good job in helping me. Another goal is to raise my test scores as well.

  42. My goal for the third quarter was to raise my grades on my labs and homework. So far, I have achieved my goal. I now have a 93 in the class. I think I am more motivated to do my work, and have been managing my time better. Another goal i'd like to accomplish would be improving my average test and quiz grades from the 80's range to the 90's range.

  43. My goal for the 3rd quarter was to get my quiz and test grades up, so far I have raised them both. I did so by going in to ms.Knewstub to study before tests and quizzes. Another goal of mine is to raise my lab score also. My classmates can help me by staying on task during lab exercises and helping eachother out when one of us needs help.

  44. So far, I have completed my goal. I have done this by carefully completing my labs, and making a conscience effort to turn them all in on time. Ms. Sosnoski can help me reach my goal by making it clear when labs are due, which she does. My classmates, or my lab group, can help me by contributing to the group work. I am successfully completing my goal because i have a strong commitment to fulfill it. Another goal i have is to raise my overall grade to an 88.

  45. My goal was to raise my grade above a 90, and I have acheived that goal. I feel that I reached the goal by getting my homework in on time. My new goal is to bring my grade above a 95, which is going to be a challenge for me but I know if i put more time and effort into my work I can reach it.

  46. My goal was to turn in all the homework assigned. I was doing very well with my goal before i got sick for a week. I hope to be able to turn in all of my late homework assignments and be able to bring my homework grade back up. If you all could stop bringing viruses to the high school, that would be great, Thanks! In all seriousness, i feel like i am doing a good job achieving my goal given the situation of me actually never being in school.
